Court Reporters

Certified court reporters are employed to take a verbatim record of court proceedings; transcribe and certify such parts of the record as may be required by rule or order of the court; complete and file all requested transcripts and follow statutes and rate guidelines for billing.   Each court reporter working with the court is certified by the Louisiana Board of Examiners of Certified Shorthand Reporters.  For more information regarding certified court reporting in Louisiana, the laws that govern certification and duties of court reporters, please visit the following website:  www.lacourtreporter.com.

If an attorney or a party to a proceeding requires a transcript, the reporter should be contacted directly.  The Court Administrator's Office provides contact information for all court reporters and can be reached at (985) 809-5300.  The reporter will give an estimate of the cost and delivery date of a requested transcript.  As a rule, reporters require payment in advance.  The transcript will be provided to the party who made the request and a copy will also be filed into the court record in the Clerk of Court's office.
