In 2012, Judge William J. Knight and the 22nd Judicial District Court established Re-Entry Court in partnership with Angola State Penitentiary.  Re-Entry Court is a court-based program that involves the correctional system, law enforcement, the district attorney's office, the public defender's office, mental health and substance abuse educators and participating workforce representatives to introduce former inmates back into society.  The program was created to reverse rates of high incarceration and low rates of behavioral change. The program provides job services, life skill training and supervision as former inmates are assimilated into society.
